God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death...,,..This is what the believer has;! What an assurance.

Verse 23 makes an amazing statement regarding God's sovereignty. Even though the Jews hated Jesus and willfully conspired to kill Him, Scripture says Jesus was "delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God." God always accomplishes His purposes, even using the actions of men who are in opposition to His purposes. God is truly awesome!

Peter's sermon at Pentecost is filled with zeal and packed with evangelistic fervor. Moves me to do the same. Praying for boldness in continued attempts in spreading the gospel, thanking Christ Jesus for "divine appointments". In awe of the fellowship and those who were being saved (verses 42-47).

"they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all people." MacArthur says..." The Jerusalem church was joyful because it's single focus was on Jesus Christ." A dear friend of mine over the past few years has reminded me regularly to fix my eyes on Jesus. So often we lose our joy in life because we take our focus off Jesus. It reminds me of the phrase in a song..." And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace." Oh may I keep Him the single focus of my life and experience the abundant joy he so desires to give.
