Thought what Gamaliel said at the end of the chapter was interesting. "for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them." Thinking about it, his council is completely correct, he understood that nothing could stand in the way of God's will being accomplished. I'm convicted that even with all the revelation I have been given about God and His purposes, I do not live with that same confidence. The apostles clearly had confidence in God when they responded, saying: “We must obey God rather than men". Praying that attitude would be the motivation of all of our hearts.

I am fascinated by the account of the angel letting them out of prison. Our Lord cares so deeply for His people and He protects them so that they may continue to speak the words of life. I need to continually trust the Lord and His endless resources and speak with joy about the One who gave His life for me.

Captivating biblical realities. Reflecting on verses 40-42. Reminded of those martyred who rejoiced their way to martyrdom for the sake of His gospel. Most if not all people who are locked up in prison can't wait to be let out, but not for the sake of "rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name". Praying for true conversions. Thankful for those ministers (Pastor Blakey) who remain(s) faithful to His Word and who do not cease teaching and preaching in season and out of season (2 Tim 4:2) "that the Christ is Jesus." For His glory alone...

Verses 1-11 really demonstrates the enormous consequence of sin, especially that of lying to God. I am sure this event was quite the "wake up" call for the early church as verse 11 indicates. How grateful I am for God's infinite grace and mercy He bestows on me daily when I sin against Him! I pray for continued redemption and the renewing of my mind so I may become more and more like Christ.
